    Hi there,
First off I love Autoptimize and have used it recently for my site p3designs.com.au. It was working fine, however when I updated to the latest version of the plugin, now my revolution slider won’t show. I have it deactivated at present because my site is live, but from what I can tell from testing it breaks the .js. I was able to use another ‘minifier’ which did not break the .js on the slider, however it also wasn’t as good, performance wasn’t as good as this plugin.

I would love to get it working again, any tips or ideas would be most appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    – Daniel

PS: I would also prefer to stay using WP 3.9.2 – not too keen on WP 4.0 so far. 🙂

I guess you’re on AO 1.9.1 now? And what are (or were) your autoptimize js optimization settings Daniel?

    Hi Frank,
Thanks for your prompt response. It’s about 4:38am here in Australia, so I’m going to turn the plugin “on” so you can see what’s happening, but I’ll have to turn it off again in about 5 hours or so. I have also attached some links below to screenshots of the settings page.

And yes I’m using version 1.9.1. And here’s some point of reference screenshots.

I have tried different settings, force JS in head for example. I’m pretty sure is JS related, because when I excluded the file in “Better WordPress Minify” it worked, I excluded it in this plugin too but it’s not working. Even turning off JS & CSS ‘minification’ (lol is that a word) and leaving the plugin active, it still makes the slider disappear.

But like I said, this plugin is great and performance wise its amazing. Just need to get over this lil hurdle. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Kind regards,
    – Daniel 🙂

Didn’t have time to have a peek, will look into it today. You can, for starters, already re-activate AO with CSS- and HTML-optimization, leaving JS optimization off?

    Hi Frank,
Thats ok I understand you’re likely a busy man. 🙂
I will be at my computer for all of tonight, so when you are ready to have a look let me know here and I’ll activate it. I did try just turning CSS & HTML, leaving JS off but even with them all off, just having AO activated in the first place causes the issue.

OK, started out trying revolution slider on my test-site and with default AO-config (so just activate HTML, CSS & JS optimization) all works ok, cfr. http://futtta.be/wordpress/avada/2014/09/15/revolution-slider-test/

So the question is; how come it breaks on your site. Can you indeed activate AO (all options off) for a couple of minutes?

Ok so was just getting it ready and for some reason, it now works with HTML & CSS minified (I believe in phantom code & artificial intelligence lol). The problem now starts when JS is minified. I have all 3 ON at the moment, so you can see what is happening.

If you want me to make setting adjustments, let me know. I’m at your disposal.

OK, can you add “jquery.js” to the js exclusion list (and optionally disable try-catch-wrapping)?

    Thread Starter P3Designs

    (@p3designs)

Ha ha that was easy wasn’t it, walk in the park for you. Thanks so much! It’s working!
Just so I know, what does try-catch-wrapping actually mean anyway?

    Plugin Author Frank Goossens

    (@futtta)

Well, the main thing was excluding jquery.js, as I saw an error in the browser console about jQuery being unknown.

try/catch is a method that can be used to stop errors in one script from impacting another, but it was also generating an error (about a missing closing bracket, probably due to some other issue in one of the aggregated scripts) and it is known to slow things down.

    Have fun!

Thanks Frank I will, having a blast!
I genuinely appreciate your help today and thanks for creating such an awesome plugin. Have a super week!!

I still have a problem. In my case with the anew theme the sharrre plugin is not included in the minified js file. I don’t know why.

This happens when I optimize html + js. If I only optimize html and exclude jquery works, but my js files are not bundled nor minified.

The missing plugin is named sharrred. The file is http://blog.bitplanets.com/wp-content/themes/anew/js/jquery.sharrre.min.js?ver=4.0.1 but as I’ve said is not included in the minimized file when bundling with optimize js.

I’ve found another bug: if you enable “Keep HTML comments?” then the js files are not merged. Are just moved to the bottom of the html…

    Hi tottys;
Is blog.bitplanets.com the site on which you’re experiencing this? Looking at the source you’re (currently) not using Autoptimize (but wp minify) and I don’t really see a trace of jquery.sharrre either?

    kind regards,
    frank
(next time it would be better to create a new thread, instead of adding stuff to previous threads)
