Automatically close comments after X days: Not working with custom post types (3 posts)

    Hi there,

I've set up a WordPress site at http://karol.gajda.com

Comments are set to automatically close after 7 days. This works fine for regular blog posts, but not for custom post types (Free Ideas and Quick Thoughts at the site in question). The comments on those just stay open indefinitely.

I'm using the Thesis theme, though the same page template is in use for custom post types and regular posts.

Is there something obvious I'm missing here? Googling around, I haven't been able to find anyone else reporting the same problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I still haven't found a solution to this, but a quick update...

To rule out the possibility of this being a theme issue, yesterday I set up a test blog (using TwentyEleven) and created a custom post type (CPT). Then I set the comments to close automatically after one day, and published a regular blog post and a CPT post.

26 hours later, comments have automatically closed for the regular post, but remain open for the CPT post.

So it seems this is a bug with custom post types. For whatever reason, they don't pay any attention to that site-wide setting to close comments automatically.

Any suggestions for how to resolve this, or any kind of workaround?
