Automatic upgrade messy on Windows Server (1 post)

I have several blogs, those hosted on apache servers upgrade fine using automatic upgrade. However, when I use this feature on a blog hosted on Windows Servers, it's a bit messy, leaving files to be manually deleted. I have to delete the maintenance file just to be able to log into the blog.

Which other files/folders should I delete post upgrade? Is it OK to delete the wordpress-292.zip file and the upgrade folder and/or its contents?

Is there a way of making automatic installations less messy for future upgrades? I presume it's something to do with delete permissions.
