I tried upgrading from 2.7 to 2.7.1 using the upgrade button in the tools section. The upgrade failed because it could not write the wpconfig_sample.php. I decided to upgrade manually and now the files on my server are not allowing me to delete or overwrite due to a permissions error. Any ideas on how I can proceed.

every time the file permissions got mixed and I couldn't change it anymore, the only solution has been to ask my host to manually perform the operation.

Posted 3 years ago #Try right clicking the folder in your ftp program and changing the permissions there, to 0755.
