   I have five WP blogs, all 2.7.1 and the automatic update doesn't work on any of them. It goes to the page Upgrade WordPress with the text "Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.8.zip"

   Then nothing. I've tried this in IE and Opera as well as FireFox.

   Anyone else had this problem with upgrading to 2.8?

   Yes I have, so I switched to the old-fashioned manual upgrade.

   WP 2.8 has many bug, stay with 2.7... ;-)

   Most 2.8 problems are caused by plugins, themes, and lack of PHP memory.

   To be sure, deactivate all plugins before upgrading.

   If the auto upgrade doesn't work, then follow Upgrading WordPress instructions.
