   Question:

   How do I make all the posts on my index page abbreviated with a "more" link after a certain amount of words or characters. I would like the post page, permalink, itself not to include this feature.
   Any Ideas?

   A side note is that if you use FeedBurner's smartfeed, and your posts are set to show full, as required, then the
   <!--more-->
   shortcut can apparently sometimes break the feed.
   In addition to the option of creating custom excerpts, there's also a plugin called Post Teaser (another alternative).
