Auto-update to Google Cal (11 posts)

Is there a way for a reader to subscribe to the Event Page (not each individual event) and have the events imported to either iCal or Google Calendar automatically when new events are added? Timely had this feature, but I can't figure out how to get it in Events Manager.

@Angelo_nwl I did try that, and it worked fine on the individual event postings, but I can't figure out where to put the placeholder so it shows up on the full month view. Also, it seems to be a link that enables exporting of the events to Google Calendar...but what I'm really looking for is a "subscribe to this in Google Calendar." So that any new events added to the blog's calendar will auto-post to someone's personal Google Calendar.

you can't do a month, but you can allow peopel to subscribe to a whole calendar by using Google's button generator:

Hmmm...actually...it's not working. Do you know the URL I put in the html code generator? I've tried the .ics URL as well as just the plain URL, but none of them seem to work.

It seems to only want to accept calendar addresses from Google calendars, not Event Manager. It wants an XML address???

If you need an RSS / XML feed try http://YOURSITE/events/feed/

Hmmm...when I use that, I get an error message that says: "The address that you provided did not contain a calendar in a valid iCal or GData format" That's why I tried using the .ics format, but that didn't work either.

What error message do you get if you try the .ics link? Is that link working correctly?

So, I finally figured out the problem with the .ics code and fixed it. Now I can get the calendar to upload to both iCal and Google Calendar.

But wouldn't someone have to click on the button each time they wanted to upload a new event on the calendar to their own? In other words...does it auto-update whenever new events are added?

Is there a way to get a "subscribe to" rather than an "export to"?

    Make sense?

if you add the link via Google calendar, it does sync, but not if you upload the ics file.

this is one-way though, so no changes are ever made to EM from Google.
