    Hi Gang ..

I normally try to figure these things out on my own, but this one has me stumped.

I have four plugins that need updating, including the latest WordPress 3.3.1 update, and until last week it was as simple as using the auto update feature. Now it goes through the process and shows "plugins activated successfully," but when I go back to the plugin page nothing has been updated.

This is the first time I am trying to auto update since upgrading to WP 3.3.0, so I don't know if it is a WordPress glitch or if it something on my end.

Hopefully this makes sense, and many thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Bryan J Zimmerman

    Try:
    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme's folder in wp-content/themes and adding "-old" to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    - re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress.

    - re-running the upgrade via wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Esmi ...

I appreciate the reply and have no problem trying the steps outlined, however, why would I go through all of that to rectify something that worked fine for the past three years?

    Thank you,
    Bryan

Because you weren't using WordPress 3.3 three years ago. This is basic WordPress troubleshooting. If you can't work with us, then we can't help you.

    Esmi ...

Like I said, I have no problem with the steps you outlined, I was just curious as to the why.

I apologize if my comment sounded like I didn't want your help.

    Thank you,
    Bryan

    Well ...

I decided to give the manual install a try, which worked like a charm.

Had I gone through all of the steps outlined above, I would have been at it all morning, whereas the manual updates only took about 15 minutes.
