I also want to create a iPad friendly version of my theme how can I auto change my theme whe someone uses an iPad or iPhone to view my website baring in mind that I only want the theme to change on the device not for the entire websit because others will be viewing on other platforms o/s and browsers

This looks interesting but I was wishing to create my own theme. And possibly use a plugin to change the theme for the device thus I can keep the same look throughout the website thanks il have a look into this to
The method that ipstenu recommended is the easiest, but if you wanted to go fancy, you would have to use media queries.

This is definitely the best way to go, but it does require a lot of work.
