• WP Users,

I’m hoping somebody can help me out here. Lets say I have a database of entries I want to make to my blog. I want to automatically post these entries at particular times (e.g every day, every other day etc) into certain categories…

Is there a plugin that does that? If not can anybody point me in the right direction of a good plugin that I can perhaps enhance for my purposes?

I suppose I could use the Email to WP feature and email each item, but that seems a little ‘around the houses’…

Any help is very much appreciated…

  • If you write all the entries, you can date them into the future to be posted ?

Thanks – unfortunatley they are electronic (i.e. pre-written) so I was looking for an automated way of doing this…..

bump – any help folks, or is everybody celebrating the 4th!

If it helped, you’d receive several dozen “I’ve never seen such a beast” replies before the end of the day. But then again, it doesn’t really help…

    Thanks for that helpful comment….

Anyway, after many hours digging, I think I have found a solution. I can hack a copy of the import-rss function to automate posting…

I’m not sure why you can’t post them with future dates and then just forget them. I guess I miss the point of it all. But then again, I miss the point of many things. 😉

How do you post them in to the future? Please give details for a newbie to follow thx 🙂

Budwiser – from the Advanced Edit screen (which you can select in Options > Writing), scroll down. You will see the timestamp boxes.
Check the correct box next to the date/time line and alter to suit.

but this will only post it imediately only dated ahead, is there a way to hold a post back until the desired date and time? thx

    It holds it back.

If you ‘post’ one now dated for Monday at 9:13pm, it will not appear on your blog until precisely that time.

Do a test one for 15 minutes from now ?

    ok, thanks! got it!

btw, unrelated but since your here…

I am trying to download new themes but I get a meesage that says looks like WP isn’t installed, ?

It says that but your blog IS installed ?
If that’s the case, go email your host and ask them what’s up. Unless you did something to the database ?

my blog is installed but when I go to
    admin>presentation
and click on More Themes Link,
    and takes me to
    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/
I select a them to download I get this message:
It doesn’t look like you’ve installed WP yet. Try running install.php.

Odd… it should just download a theme from here. it does for me.

Try forgetting the link inside the blog and just use the link at the top here ?

no luck, get same message no matter where I try to get it,
    even tried direct download link
    http://downloads.wordpress.org/theme/pool.zip
