[resolved] Audio tags not working in 3.5 (9 posts)

I have tried to embed audio in a post in version 3.5. Even scaled down and tried to use their basic theme, Twenty Twelve, thinking the theme I had chosen was the problem.

I am using a media host for the mp3 of the podcast (libsyn) and none of the ways I put it in the [audio] tag are working.

I even tried to the default m4a from the wordpress audio tag tutorial on the bottom, and nothing is working. Downloaded some audio plugins but they don't seem to be working in 3.5, so I deleted them and am back to square one. It's just showing up as text.

    Thanks.

I ended up using the libsyn player for it- but the question still remains: why doesn't the audio tag work? I'm using a self-install of wordpress 3.5.

Anyone else have the [audio] tag not working for them?

WordPress does not have an [audio] shortcode built in. What exactly are you trying to do with that?

http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/ I assumed due to this.

I'm assuming this is the difference between .org and .com again. So then I ask: when will most of the audio plugins work with 3.5?

WordPress.com has a bunch of stuff that is specific to .com and which is not in the core WordPress software.

Many plugins are available to add this sort of thing, and most of them that would do this specifically are probably perfectly 3.5 compatible.

Like many of the WordPress.com goodies, the Jetpack plugin duplicates the [audio] shortcode functionality. You'll need a WordPress.com account to activate the Jetpack plugin's features, but it runs on your own self-hosted WordPress install.
