Audio in WordPress

I use the following line to play audio in my web site:
(a href=”http://path/to/my/audio.mp2″) Me Singing (/a)
and it works fine except that for the duration of the audio the user is looking at a blank screen with a scroll bar in the middle. (Boring)
Substitute ( and ) for LG and GT

At the WordPress.com web site, I also found:

[audio http://wpcom.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/mattmullenweg-interview.mp3%5D

It works on the wordpress.com site but the copy/paste line into my wen site does nothing except display the line. I like this because the page remained visible with only an scroll bar showing at the location of the code.
