attachment.php on twenty ten, what is the deal?

    I need some light here please.

    I didn’t get the attachment.php on twenty ten theme. I can guess there are something to do with the WP attachments like images, videos… etc. But why do we need this page? Which are the benefices in have this page in my theme?
