Post/page attachment data should be included in the export process. This should include not only what images, etc. are attached to that post but the featured image as well. This is the only hole in the domain/server migration process.

Why not copy the database and files over?
If I don't want to include all the other stuff in the database, such as WordPress settings, users, plugin data, etc. but just want the posts and pages then the export tool is great.
The reason I was looking for this is because I'd like to do a fresh install of WordPress for my site, carrying over only the post data. That way I can leave behind any legacy WordPress options or plugin data that hasn't been cleaned up for whatever reason.
