hi, i'm using a template that will display image attach to a post as thumbnail in the category view. it will automatically create a gallery once an image is uploaded to the post.
i have other posts that used same image.
how to attach that image from existing media gallery/image wihtout uploading a new image to that post. the image however is not inserted to the post, but just merely attach to the post so that it appear later as thumbnail

This seems to be a recurring theme here. I have the same question, and I believe it's a limitation in the WP software to allow about.

Goes into it a bit, but I'm still looking here as well. As of 3.1, I can't see a method for doing this in the Media library however, it should exist. Perhaps a plugin is available. If I find anything, I'll let you know.
