Assosociating posts with pages?

How would I do this? I have a bunch of posts with a category of “Events”. I am displaying excerpts of these posts on my events page, which has an events template page. When these Events posts open to full length, they open in the single.php and loop-single.php from the Twenty Ten theme, that I used as my base for this project.

What I am now having a hard time with is that I would like the sidebar to show the menu for the Events page when I am on my Events post, as well as for the bread crumbs to still show the full breadcrumb. How would I approach that best?
