Is there another setting I have to set, so that co-authors are able to edit post, which they are assigned to as co-authors?
There isn’t another setting — with Co-Authors Plus active, assigned authors should be able to edit their posts.
Where in the DB do you save the co-author list/array?
They’re stored as terms of the “author” taxonomy.

I’ve got the same problem. I’m using WP 3.8.1 and I have several users with the author role. I’ve tried to assigned co-authors to a post but only the first user of the list can actually edit the post, the others don’t see it at all in the posts’ list.
If I change the order of the co-author, then the new user on the top can edit but not the others.

Same problem here. Seems a lot of us have this problem. Daniel Bachhuber and his people should really take a look at this imo.
Using WP 3.9.1 here with Co-Authors Plus 3.1.1.
EDIT: Only the first person in the author list is able to view the post in the dashboard. It is however possible to edit the post if you have the url to it ( like http://mysite.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=263&action=edit )
