Askimet plugin, where do i get the api key?

    Hi,
    I’d like to activate askimet plugin on my wordpress blog hosted at altervista, but it asks me an api key to activate?
    Where do i get it?
    Can you help me please?

    You’ll need to go to WordPress.com and register there to get an API Key for Akismet

    I did so, I registered as katychan83, but when i use the api key on my blog it tells “Your key appears invalid. Double-check it.” How can i fix that?

    Katychan-did you register at WordPress.com for a blog, or just for a username? My suggestion is register for a blog, just make something up so you can get the key.
