   I keep getting an error when entering my API for the Askimet plugin. I am copying and pasting. TIA

   I've got the same problem, but have not managed to sort it out yet...

   Will post back my solution if I ever find one...

   hmz, why does this topic have [resolved] in the title?

   I've not resolved the problem myself, and if kevinaltizer has done so, it would be good to know what he/she did so that I can do it too!

   Hi,
   When I put the API Key in the Askimet configuration page and click on the Update API button I just get a message that my API key seems to be invalid. I have cut and pasted the number and also typed in directly with the same results.
   Does anyone have any further ideas about this?

   I had this problem a few months ago.

   Some have found that waiting at least 24–48 hours before entering the API is the issue (something to do with your WordPress.com account needing verifying).

   My problem was that my ISP blocks all outgoing ports on my shared server. I had to contact the IT department directly and request them to open the port that Akismet uses. Generally, if you just ask them to open port 80 to akismet.com, it should work.
