I've got an aside code in my sidebar that came from the Adding Asides page. (It's the bottom one "Displaying Asides on the Sidebar" that isn't Matt's.)
I've got so that it's working on the index page with it not showing up on the main loop, but I can't get it to work in the sidebar of the category pages.
This is what it looks like on the index page (it's under status updates).

In your archive.php probably doesn't have a <get sidebar>. Compare that file with your index.php.

Hm, something must be wrong with calling for it. You didn't try to have a different sidebar for the archives? Perhaps you have the original files from your theme to see what it looked like in the beginning?
