[resolved] Aside Glitch (3 posts)

I'm not sure what the expected behaviour is, but using Twenty Thirteen, I've added an Aside. In the Aside's dashboard interface I can add a title to that Aside, but on the front end, only the content shows, not the title.

If an aside is like a Status update, then it's an issue with the dashboard giving me the ability to add a title. If an aside should have an title, then it's an issue with the front end not showing the post title of the aside.

  2. I think that this might be theme related rather.

I just tested it myself, I added an aside with a title and tested in with 2011, 2012 and 2013.

2013 - shows no title as you mentioned

    2012 - displays the title

2011 - doesn't display the title, but display the title ASIDE...

I'm guessing that theme developers can modify their theme according to how they want these to be displayed.

I know that the format of post formats (say that 5 times fast) is not something set in stone, but I've done some further digging, and if we use the codex as a guide http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Formats then:

aside - Typically styled without a title. Similar to a Facebook note update.

This would indicate that perhaps the Dashboard shouldn't allow me to add a title, in the same way that I cannot assign a title to Status. At this point I'm not sure I understand the difference between an Aside and a Status update using the Codex definition.

Because these buttons are going to be front and centre, it would be helpful if they behaved in similar ways regardless of theme, as long as the theme supports post types.
