In the theme Ascetica I am trying to use images of posts also on the main page (basically a featured image). I simply can't find where to do that, since the featured image option does not seem to exist.

I'm sorry but as you are using a commercially supported theme, you need to seek support from the theme's developers.

look for plugin auto post image and enable media replace activate them, it worked for me in the past but im having some trouble with the latest build pre beta 2 of wordpress...
