I have my blog up and running. It is still a work in progress. I use a modified k2 theme and a slightly modified zenphoto for the galleries.
I did some different things with integrating the art into the blog more but I decided I like the galleries to have a different look. Specifically I took the blog header off of the art pages to give the images more room and to distract from them less.
The header has an image switcher so hit refresh a couple of times.

Thanks to all the wordpress developers and people answering questions here on the forum. I have found a lot of helpful stuff here.

I am a painter not a web designer, so I am not sure how well coded everything is. I have been experimenting with the css a lot and I know I need to go in and clean it up a bit.

you may want to remove those bullets you have that show up in your navigation up in the header, i think its just an IE thing

nice work with k2, I saw this on those forums but didn't get around to commenting on it.

the bullets are an ie thing as they don't show up on firefox. The verticle nav in the header is cool because it's original.

The sentence in the header that says "Paintings and drawings by Gene Kinnamon" looks weird. put it at the bottom of the sidebar. I don't like how links lighten on hover. Instead of going to that lighter color, I'd keep it at that dark color and just make 'em underlined

the links in the sidebar should match the links in the content

other than that it looks good. I like the background images you've used

    Thanks for the replies.
I am going to work on the header and make the links more consistent.
I have not tested it in IE, so thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Yeah, I agree about making the links consistent, and preferably the same color as in the sidebar because I didn't even know you had links in the body until I accidentally moved a cursor over one of them. They just don't show up too well.

You could leave the "paintings and drawings..." sentence where it is if you integrate it better. Make it bigger and move it down (possibly slightly to the left also) so that it's more a part of the content. I'd give it a more catchy title though. That sounds a bit more like a tagline for the sidebar than a title.
