Help! I have recently downloaded a few plugins (Askimet and a couple of others) and I now can't edit existing posts....

When I try, the content is invisible (white text on a white background), all in code, even when visual tab is hit, most of the post editing controls aren't there (full screen view, etc.), and the other links don't work (e.g. the help tab!). I get told in the bottom left of the screen that there is an error.

If i create a new post, things seem to work fine until I save it....

I have tried deactivating the plugins and changing the name of the plugin folder so it can no longer be found. Nothing seems to work.

    Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Try switching to the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 - 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can affect the admin panel).

If that doesn't work, try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don't forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
