   Hi there,

   Can anyone recommend a suitable book on using WordPress to build a brand new website for beginners?

   I've just got WordPress 2.8 installed. I have a registered domain that I wish to use to build a new website and a friend recommended that I use WordPress.

   Trouble is, although I come from an I.T. background, I am not familiar with developing websites. So this is all very new to me. (Although I did do a 6 week crash course on using Dreamweaver about 3 years ago).
   I apprecialte there is heck of a lot of WordPress documentation on this site but I would like something a little more structured to follow. And not have to print reams of paper to follow the instructions!

   Basically, the website is to be a business website mainly for my husband's business but I'd like to have a page to advertise my I.T. skills. Also to have a gallery page for photos and a page for blogging.

   I have looked at many themes as I thought that would be a good place to start before creating any web pages. But now I'm not so sure. So I'm just going round and round in circles.

   Hi Caroline,

   I was wondering the same thing and noted you did not get an answer. While searching, I came upon this page in the WordPress.org site that may be of some help.

   im sure caroline is showing off her it skills by now but if not, 'How to Start / Make / Create Your Own Website: The Beginner's A-Z' is a GREAT place to start. it leads to a tutorial on setting up a wordpress site. DONT PRINT REAMS OF PAPER. simply open another tab (just click the + at the very top our your screen - im sure you already know that) and switch between the two tabs. make a webdesign folder in your bookmarks and keep bookmarking stuff you like (you can always delete it later)
