   Hi I recently upgraded to the latest version of wp and since then, all of the new themes I try to use refuse to show my archives. When I go to the widgets section of the dashboard I can see Archives as well as pages, but I am unable to add them to the sidebar as the option is not available. Any help greatly appreciated.

   also I ve tried in using many different themes included default.

   Had to change the_excerpt to the the_content in the archives.php file

   first, what is your real problem?
