   Hello,
   I am getting 404 error when i am using this url to access archieve http://www.myurl.com/index.php/archives/
   However, it is working fine when i am acessing like this
   http://www.myurl.com/index.php/archives/category/categoryname/
   any suggestion?

   What exactly do you expect at example.com/index.php/archives ? How do you get that link to click on?
   That link doesn't have enough info for WP: it should also contain a year or, year and month etc.

   Where did that link come from? Is it part of the 'WordPress box'? If not, you are merely URI hacking and are bound to trigger odd errors or, in this case, URL's that are not mod_rewritten properly by Apache.
