I’ve created a custom sidebar in the Theme Options > Misc Settings section and I’ve added a couple of items to it in the widgets area. I want to apply this sidebar just to my Contact page, but can’t see how I might do this. If I change the Page Template to Sidebar, it just applies the Primary Sidebar contents.

I can’t show you the site as it’s behind a holding page, but hope you’ll be able to advise me anyway.

    Many thanks in advance.

  • Hey,
So the theme contact page isn’t not set up to have a sidebar. What you can do is create your own using a plugin (I recommend contact form 7) which will allow you to add a contact form to any page, then you can use the sidebar page template and add your contact form to it.

Thank you. I understand what you mean about using plugins, but what I guess I’m asking is…

…having created a custom sidebar in the Misc Settings section, how do I actually apply these custom sidebars to individual pages? If that’s not possible, what is the purpose of the custom sidebar function?

    Thank you. 🙂

If you want to show a custom sidebar you have to have the page template set to sidebar or feature – sidebar.

Then click save draft or publish and you will have an option to make the sidebar on that page your custom sidebar:

Also in posts you have the option to select which sidebar to use.

That’s what I needed to know. Thank you.
