Appearance - Editor - Can't edit style.css in wordpress (3 posts)

I use GoDaddy as my hosting service. My permissions for my FTP files are all on "Write". Still, I install my TwentyTenChild Theme and I can't Edit the style.css by going to Appearances - Editor -- typing in code -- and then updating. Absolutely nothing happens. It seems that my Appearance Editor is entirely frozen. I have deleted the themes, installed them anew, and refreshed. There is nothing I can do to use the Editor. Help?

Do you get any error messages?

    If not, try this experiment.

Go to Dashboard --> Appearance --> Editor and click on style.css in the usual way. Make a trivial change (such as adding a comment somewhere in the file). Now download your style.css file from your server (documentroot/wordpressroot/wp-content/activethemefolder/style.css) to your local machine and open it up in a text editor. Are your changes there?

If yes, there's nothing wrong with the editor. Your browser may be caching stuff so you don't see the changes.

If no, go back to the editor and hover over the link to the stylesheet. Is the URL your browser displays the url you expect to see?

Once we're over those hurdles we can take another look: but I guess that's enough for now.

    Cheers

    Thanks for your message!!!!!!!

No error messages. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to download the style.css onto my local machine.

Strangely, in the meantime I discovered that I could go into my GoDaddy hosting service and change the style.css from there. It worked.

Still, I wanted to change the code directly from WordPress. I decided to Re-Install the latest version of WordPress (even though I already had it). Once I did that, the Editor worked again. Weird?

    Thanks!!!!!!
