I see this has been asked before, but couldn't find the answer. I am setting up a self-hosted (GoDaddy) blog site and would like an api for using Akismet.
I did not receive one in the Welcome email(s), and there is not one listed on my Profile page.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

You have to sign up for a free account at WordPress.com to get the api key. (you don't have to have a blog there, just an account)

Thank you, that worked.
With two logins, two passwords, and two emails from WordPress during the process of downloading software and setting up the blog, I guess I thought I already had all the accounts I needed.
