API on Self Install through Dreamhost

    I self installed WP 2.0 through Dreamhost and I can’t find an API number in the spot where the faq says it should be. I can’t enable Akismet because I don’t have an API and I don’t seem to have one on my profile, either.

    what should I do? I don’t want a WordPress.com blog because I have a dreamhost plan and I can host it myself. Where’s the API I’m supposed to use if I do a Self Install?

    Think of wordpress.com as where you need to sign up for the api key.
    The fact that you get a free blog with the key is an added bonus – and you could always have the blog as somewhere to rant and rave 🙂
