• I have tried to find My API key with no luck. I have looked in all the places that people have said to look. Can you tell me how to get a new one or send me mine. I know I might received a email with it when I signed up but I can not find that either. Please help I need it for the spam filter.

List them… Better yet, on your admin > Plugins page where it shows the Akismet plugin READ carefully this:

Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. You need a WordPress.com API key to use it.

And CLICK on that link before coming here…

    I already did thanks.

    So, problem solved?

Moshu thanks for nothing but a snotty response. I figured it out by the way without your help. I didn’t realize that I still had two blogs and the API key was on the first one I created. The reason I am explaining this is so that everyone else can have an actual answer other than “And CLICK on that link before coming here…” Your worthless.

thepixlpusher: This question shows up in these forums on at least a daily basis. 20 seconds of searching should have revealed the answer. moshu’s response in fact told you where to go that would have given you a direct link to your answer.

    Thoughts from a ‘NEWBIE’:
‘signing up’ and ‘…clicking the “My Account” link in the top right when you’re logged in…’ are far from clear and concise in my experience. (Which are the instructions you receive from that link provided by moshu). I installed WP on a server/domain for our website… in that Admin panel there is NOT a “My Account” – however there is a “Howdy {name}” in the top right, and a “Your profile” in the left panel lineup… but of course neither of them provide you with your API key.

I received an email from WP when I installed it on the website – again no API key given. Sorting through some of these forum pages I THOUGHT I made progress in making a FORUM ACCOUNT – but that also did NOT yield any results. I received ANOTHER email from WP pertaining to my forum account – but still nothing re API keys…

The ANSWER:: You must create a WORDPRESS ACCOUNT (which is different than installing it on a website / server – AND – different from creating a Forum Account). You can do that at http://wordpress.com/signup/

Hopefully this will help future users / newbies who found themselves as confused and lost as I was…
