Can I have my API Key sent to me?

It’s not in my profile or elsewhere.

Yeah you need it sent to you, theres an option somewhere to get it sent to your email (if your registered). If no one has answered by morning I’ll find out where it is, would do it now but I’m falling asleep on my laptop!

ClaytonJames – thank, I’ve seen this link. Problem is, the site was originally built by a developer, then transfer over to me. He claims not to be able to find the API Key.

Unfortunately that link doesn’t address my need.

I’m just ball-parking here, but what is preventing you from signing up for your own wordpress.com account and getting your own api key and using that?

Well, I do have my own wordpress account. My website was built on WordPress by web developer I’m no longer in contact with. Originally the email must have gone to him.

I’m guessing the API code which was sent to him initially is the only designated to my site. I’ve search my WordPress account, profile page, and other areas to see if it is listed there, but haven’t found it.

Just so we’re on the same page, that’s wordpress.com, not the account for this forum, (.org) correct?

“If you already have a WordPress.com account, your API key is listed on your profile page, which you can get to by clicking the “My Account” link in the top left when you’re logged in.”

No. The account is on WordPress.org.

API keys are acquired by getting an account on wordpress.com.

    That link again, is: http://en.wordpress.com/api-keys/

Or if you want a personal use API key for Akismet, http://akismet.com/personal/

That link is also on the page I previously mentioned.
