Apostrophes / grammar / £ signs breaking posts (7 posts)

I have a big problem with my WordPressblog. Whenever I enter any grammar symbols (eg. ' " £ $ %) it breaks the text. When I press 'save' it literally deletes the entire post content onwards from the point of the first offending symbol.

The only way I can work around this is:

    1) do not go into HTML view as this kills it

    2) manually delete and re-input every symbol by hand

This works but is incredibly tricky and fiddly for long posts. Also if you accidentally miss a grammar symbol then you will have to go through and do them all again.

So frustrating! Has anybody else had this problem and how do you fix it?

Have you tried using html for the symbols ?
    & # 3 4 ; = " (With out the spaces)
    Maybe worth a try ?
Long List of them here too: http://www.ascii.cl/htmlcodes.htm

Thanks for your reply. That would probably work but it is still a bit of a workaround (and fiddly), the problem is still there.

I know WordPress doesn't do this normally so really can't work out why it's doing it. Something to do with character encoding perhaps? I haven't touched those settings though so don't know why.

Here's my site by the way: http://www.wiredcanvas.com/category/blog

Seems Like it's been a problem for a while :\

I remember on Joomla there was a editor that stript tags and symbols like this, but, I'm not sure if wordpress has the same annoying feature :P

    Ooh man how annoying!

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate your help.

I might re-post this in Request & Feedback - even if it just stripped out the symbols (rather than deleting everything) then this would be an improvement.

    Thanks again!
