It sounded like the next big thing to me from the Wordcamp video (cant find the link) though I admit to expecting to see more of a GUI for some of the options for the author templates, etc.
But having author by author options, etc. especially in conjunction with Mu would be pretty sweet. A lot more to this theme than that; just wish I had the time to delve into it right now.
I haven't tried it. It will be interesting to see if and how it makes templating easier.
WordPress (out of the box) already has author templates available, and a current-author variable, see
http://codex.wordpress.org/Author_Templates
I read the readme for Carrington theme but I have not watched the Wordcamp video yet. Curious.

I am trying it out at Blogging Art and Practice. I was also surprised that there weren't more options to set from the admin panel. And some of my plugins don't seem to be working with it. But I do like the way it looks.
Right now, this is a theme that can really only be taken advantage of by those who are very familiar with php and WordPress. There is a readme file inside every folder of the theme to point you in the right direction, but novices won't find anything that doesn't sound like a foregin language.
