• Right now if you want to use the gallery tag with an exclude code, example:
    [gallery columns="5" exclude="70155"]

You have to go to the actual gallery, insert the image into your post, then remove the id number from within the CSS tag. This seems a bit tedious so I was wondering if there is a way to print that image ID number within the list when you click Show, in your image list.

    Currently it has:
    File name:
    File type:
    Upload date:
    Dimensions:

Maybe a hack to include, WordPress Image ID:

    What do you all think?

    Thanks for the suggestion esmi.

I’ve tried both of those plugins, they claim to show media IDs but to my disappointment they do not… hmm

Forget the plugins. Just read the steps 1 – 3.

This is not the case when trying to identify the Media ID of images within the gallery. The only way is to insert the image into your post, then find the ID within the CSS tag…

I agree. This is maddening. I’d love an easier way to find that image ID too so I can use it in the gallery shortcode.

Ok, I found a somewhat easier way. If you’re looking at the “Add an Image” interface, click on the “Gallery” tab, and then “Show” a media item in the list. If you hover over the thumbnail, you can see the ID at the end of the URL in the browser’s status bar.

This doesn’t work in Chrome if your browser window isn’t wide enough. I am working on a 24″ iMac so I can see if but Im wondering if my client will. It doesn’t show up when I test 1024 x 768 (as in the URL runs out of room).

But that is just Chrome. Firefox works just fine. I will assume IE works too.

Just chiming in to concur how maddening and stupid is that obvious omission! I’d settle for a plugin that adds an ID column in Media Library…
