Hey all,
I've been using Joomla for my sites for the past few years and have been considering switching to WordPress. There are a lot of things I like about it, namely the polished looking site admin page (backend) but there are a lot of things missing compared to Joomla. I've found workarounds (plugins etc) for most of the shortcomings but there's one thing holding me back.
In Joomla I love the flexible front page management and being able to have a blog-style front page (or any page). What this means is I can choose a section of articles and then choose how many leading, intro, columns and links are displayed on the page. When done correctly, I think looks really professional. Plus you can manually choose how the articles are ordered by assigning an order number, or choosing date published, title, author, hits etc.
Is there something like this for WordPress? I have been searching but have only come up with "getpost" which doesn't seem nearly as flexible, plus you have to get your clients to struggle with shortcode.
Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.
