I'm trying to figure out the best anti-spam solution for our WordPress multisite installation. We are a higher education institution, non-profit. I inquired with akismet to see if they offer lower rates for edu but didn't get a straight answer for them.

I'm open to other solutions as well. Site wide would be best, but could auto-activate plugins for each site as well too. Let me know if you have any ideas! Thanks!

  2. There's tons of options and there always has been.

On the question of Akismet, you can use http://akismet.com/signup/ to walk through which account you would match. For edu/non-profit you'd fall under the business accounts.

  4. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cookies-for-comments/ can also be used to prevent signups.

Andrea- looks like typepad and tantan haven't been updated in a long time... are they still fully functional with wordpress 3.0.5 and 3.1?

  6. i'm using the tan tan one on a 3.1 site right now. It's really simple.

typepad just ties into a service.
