Another move WP to new directory question – i have read the codex how-to

    I’m trying to move my wordpress blog from Jaimehoerbelt.com to jaimehoerbelt.com/blog.

    I changed the blog address to http://www.jaimehoerbelt.com/blog
    changed the site address to http://www.jaimehoerbelt.com/blog
    I created a new folder called blog
    I moved the folder labeled wordpress into blog folder.

    Now when I try to access anything on my domain I get a 404 error.
    Is it because I can’t move the logs folder as well? (I get a permission error and I’m not sure how to change the permissions)

    No. You were supposed to move the contents of the wordpress folder into the blog folder.

    Delete the .htaccess file and let wordpress generate a new one.

    I’m still getting a 404 error message, that didn’t work

    you need to visit the permalinks page and save the settings again to get it to generate.

    I can’t visit the permalinks page. Every page gives me a 404 error message.
    If I move my site back into the wordpress folder on the root directory everything works at Jaimehoerbelt.com. I want it set up so that the blog is accessible at jaimehoerbelt.com/blog.

    did you change the site URL setting after you moved the files? You can do it in the database, or use any of the other methods explained in the codex.

    I changed the settings before I moved the files. I’ve read the codex several times. Nothing is working.

    what’s the current setting of home and site url as seen in the database?
    and what’s your exact directory structure now?
