I have a question about a wordpress install i did for a client. We scheduled to launch on monday but I am having problems with uploader.

I transferred the site from my host - Dreamhost to her's - Domain.com. Uploading went smoothly.

-Did a DB dump did a find and replace and uploaded to the new DB
-Made changes to wp-config and .htaccess
-Uploaded all files to new server

Now every time I attempt an upload I get:
“myImage.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
Unable to create directory /usr/local/pem/vhosts/243770/webspace/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads/2010/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Also, my NexGen Gallery is not uploading images as well. And the automatic plugin install is asking for my ftp permissions and I give the correct ones and it either does one of two things:
    1. Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content). OR
    2. It tells me password/username is incorrect when I know I entered them correctly.

The permissions are set to 755 and I changed them to 777 and that works. Unfortunately 777 permissions are obviously a bad idea.

Could this possibly be a hosting issue?

Is there quick way to fix this problem that you can give me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Change the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.
