Another Header Image Problem (1 post)

I'm probably retarded, but this is my first experience dealing with CSS or templates.

I want to have an image as my header, but use the default style aside from that.

The image loads. But it's behind a colored box. Even if I change it to white, the box still blots out the header (cousinsvinyl.com, for reference).

I've tried going in and hacking at the templates file. I have a suspicion that I need to edit the style.css file, but am unsure about how to do this (just a text editor and then reup the edited file into wp-content?)

    My email is joshsteich@gmail.com.
I just want this to work!
(This is what happens when you make a write responsible for both the content and the form of a site...)
