Anchor links cleared by editor

    I am able to create an anchor link and save a page, but the links are cleared if I open an existing page for editing, and I then have to add them again before saving. I am using WPBakery Visual Composer, which I suspect scrubs the HTML when it opens a page for editing.

    Rather than find the cause, I decided to fix this by writing a plugin that implements the link as a shortcode – [in-page-anchor id='my_anchor']Optional Link Text[/in-page-anchor].

    Suggestion: This would be a great option to include with ESSL.

    (PS. At the same time I wrote a Visual Composer extension plugin, which adds the ‘Anchor’ element. I’ll happily share this with anyone who is interested.)
