I'm in full panic mode. Would love and really appreciate any help or tips.

I just switched hosts (now on Media Temple) and nothing seems to be working. I transferred everything over fine and dandy. Migration completed today. All of my current content is fine and it's accessing the database ok as you can see at: http://www.twistedsifter.com

However, every time I log into twistedsifter.com/wp-admin i get the following message: "An unknown error occured"

My left-side column appears but everything I click brings up the same error message. I can't do anything! I can't upload or add any new content. I can't access plugins and disable, nothing! I've tried altering .htaccess to no avail. i'm totally out of my element and lost

any ideas? i'm really stressing out because i can't update my site. this host transfer has been a nightmare. i'll try anything, please help.

    thank you in advance

The links I checked worked fine in IE8 as did wp-admin.

You do however, have an extreme amount of validation errors as shown here, http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3a%2f%2ftwistedsifter.com%2f

    Hi Kmessinger,

nice to hear from you! thank you for your time. what do validation errors mean?

wp-admin loads fine yes, it's when i actually log into my dashboard that i get the "An unknown error occured" message.

i have no idea what is going on. should i try to delete some plugins? I'm not sure what is causing this error but i can't do anything to my site via the dashboard everything is useless.

any suggestions? I will gladly send any info or screen caps if it may help. if easier you can email: wongbm@gmail.com

    thank you!

Validation errors are caused by bad code. The more you have, the less likely the website will work correctly with different browsers.
The goal is to have 0 errors. If you go to the link you will see the error and the line it occurs on. Validation errors are cascading so if you fix one often several will go away.

Since you started getting this error after moving the site you most likely are missing files or they went into the wrong directory. Log in to your host account and check the files under wp-admin and wp-includes. You can reload both of these directories if necessary.

    hi kmessinger,

i tried reloading both wp-admin and wp-includes and i still get the same issue. every time i enter my dashboard i get the following error: http://imgur.com/Hn1Jk.jpg

i'm not sure how to clean up the code and validation errors. do you think those errors would cause the screen above?

thanks for your help it is much appreciated

i think it was a plugin causing the problem. specifically 'sexybookmarks'. doing tests right now to confirm.
