I was getting the same error but it seems wordpress support has fixed the issue with their api.

I'm having the same problem - I tried the timeout fix to 60 on http.php, no success.
Corner- that link doesn't seem to be active, is there another source to find out more about how to resolve this?
I've seen some people mention servers, but I have two separate WP's hosted by the same company on different accounts, and one has the problem while the other doesn't. Any help/information which has been gleaned on this recently would be appreciated.
