    Hi WordPress support community!

    I am getting this error
    “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”
    on my new WordPress installation.
    It happens everytime I try to fetch themes/plugins from inside my WordPress control panel, so it happens when my WordPress installation tries to connect to wordpress.org I guess.
    It looks like there are some outgoing connections that are blocked?

    The installation is completely new, no plugins, clean database, everything is new.

    I tried to search a lot on the internet, but couldn’t find anything that worked for me.

    I have another WordPress on a different host and everything is working over fine there.

    I hope someone will be able to help me.

    Can you log in with SSH to your server? If so, you’ll want to try to ping or traceroute to wordpress.org, to see if that’s available.

    This is a server issue – sometimes caused by a failure to compile PHP with cUrl. Contact your hosts about it.

    I was thinking too it was my host’s fault.

    I already contacted them but what should I say in order to get them solve this problem?

    You need to ask them to check the server’s configuration as it appears to be blocking calls to wordpress.org.

    It is solved for now.

    I guess it was something on the hosting side and looks like they solved it. Still have to get their reply though.

    I also hope this helps someone in my situation. If I have updates I’ll try to post them.
