I want to modify the WordPress core and sell the modified version for money. It will be release in a different license (not GNU). Is this allowed? I will clearly state that the software is a modified version of WordPress.

You CAN modify WP and sell your version for money, but you CANNOT change the license, nor can you refuse to provide people with clear-copy versions of your new code.
