Ok, my blogroll hasn't updated in over a month. I get the error: Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to api.pingomatic.com:80 in /home/xx/public_html/wordpress/wp-admin/update-links.php on line 26 like everyone else.

So is there an alternative to using pingomatic.com to update links? And if so will someone please post some detailed instructions on how to use a different service.

    This is the page:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Update_Services

    Don't over-ping though.

That tells me how to send pings from my blog, to let others know I updated. I want to get pings so I know when the blogs on my blogroll are updated.

You know, podz reply is topical of the wordpress support forum. He didn't even read my request and now no one is answering at all. So not only does the forum software used here and the site search suck but the people suck.

This thread offers a new plug-in that does not use PingOMatic.

And of course Chris, you're reply to not getting the exact answer you expect and then complaining about how much the forum "sucks", is the typical response of a [Moderated], such as yourself. If you don't like the site search on this site, which I don't much care for myself, use Google, as is suggested at the bottom of the results page.

No one has replied to this thread because this issue has been dealt with many times before and your attitude certainly is not going to motivate anyone to jump-out to offer help.

    Cheers,
    Michael.

If you look at the date in which I asked my question and the date to which that plugin was posted you'd realize I posted my question 2 days before the plugin.

Now you can go [Moderated: language] yourself for calling me a [Moderated] for no [Moderated: language] reason at all, [Moderated: language].

Thank you for proving my point, that you are in fact the [Moderated: Namecalling - please see pink sticky] I've said you are :)
