altering widget area
-
I am currently using the theme twentyten and was wondering is it possible to alter the location of the widget areas? I am sure it can be done, but im just not sure what file to edit to accomplish this. Any help would be much appreciated.

are you talking about the #primary and #secondary divs in the sidebar?
you can influence them by changing the styles in style.css:
http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp
do you mean the content in te sidebar –
then go to ‘dashboard’ ‘appearance’ ‘widgets’No, i mean the 6 widget areas that come with the tweny ten theme ( I think 3 widgetised areas are in the sidebar and three are in the footer). I would like to move one of the widget areas to the header, is this possible? Also what php file do you alter if you want the widgets to appear on one page and not another?
Thanks! (Sorry, Im a designer and I know html but I have never used wordpress before, im finding it difficult to get my website to look the way that I want).
imho, it is easier to create more, and position them where you want.
(and delete some of the others if neccessary)example:

Hi i followed that tutorial but was a little confused as i have no knowledge of php whatsoever! I have found a way to achieve the look that i want using the footer widget areas that come as standard.. do u know an easy way for me to turn of certain widgetised areas in specific pages? (For example I want to use a newsletter plugin just on the home page, although obviously when I install it its appearing on every page!)
to turn of certain widgetised areas in specific pages
the plugin ‘widget-logic’ seems to be used for this a lot
Just got it working and managed to do what i was looking for! Thank you so much for all your help, much appreciated!
