    On Settings, I should be able to enable the checkbox that says “Automatically add ALT tag to images” but I don’t see that option there.

    Why should you be able to do that?

    If you’re using the_post_thumbnail() then it automatically populates the alt tag, whether you have filled it in or not.

    If you stick to doing things the native way in WordPress then you should be ok.
