Alphabetizing posts: missing category.php (1 post)

I want to list the Name posts on website http://fallenleaves.org/ in alphabetical order. I added a custom field, lastname, planning to use the method at http://codex.wordpress.org/Alphabetizing_Posts to sort Name posts.

I am using an adaptation of a Leadcamp theme "Green Wind and Leaves" http://www.leadcamp.com/content/2010/04/23/green-wind-and-leaves-free-wordpress-template-themes/ and it does not have a category.php file. I tried inserting the conditional template coding in the archive.php file without success.

If I start a category-names.php file from scratch, what do I put in it?

If I put the conditional code in the archive.php file, where do I put it?
